Food and spirituality Food is the energy source and the most crucial thing to stay alive. We eat food in different forms since we are born. We eat day in and day out, and food is always in our minds. My daily big question is what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc. The essential thing that we do as a human is to eat. It is the physiological need as per Maslaw's hierarchy. In a way, we all work and do various things to put food on our table. That food can range from epicurean food like Almas caviar to humble food such as rice and daal, depending upon your financial status and your mood of the day. We had putlock on Friday at my workplace, and I decided to make biryani on Thursday night. It is tedious work to make biryani. It needs a lot of ingredients and has multiple steps to make this dish. Travel diaries " Maui" Maui is a stunning place with the perfect weather. This place takes your breath away with crystal clear water, amazing beaches, and luscious greenery. It is a touristy place. However, you can still enjoy nature to the fullest. Our trip to Maui was impromptu. We went there in February 2023, which is off-season and was a little cheaper to travel compared to summer. The flight's price was ok, but lodging was expensive for our budget. Still, we managed to go there. It took us almost 8 hours of nonstop flight from Denver to Maui. We took a fun tram to get to the car rental place from the airport and went to our accommodation. This place was charming. We stayed in a typical touristy place, Kaanapali beach resort. It is like a condominium and is rented out to people. It had a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and a small balcony. We felt this place was a home away from home. The first stop for us was Costco, and we r...

Living in a bubble? As I was growing up in the 80s in Nepal, I remember we had black and white television, which did not have remoter control. That used to be one of my favorite programs on television as I could take a glimpse around the world, and it would also help my imagination about the outside world I have never seen. 'So there was no real-time news. In retrospect, running that kind of program in those days must have been laborious and challenging without the Internet. If I visited my grandparents in the village, ...

Are we taking ourselves too seriously? I just googled today, and the average human life span is around 73 in 2023. However, most of us live as if we have infinite years. I used to be one of them. I had planned from A to Z (get a good education, earn money, get married, have kids, etc.) and the steps I would follow to accomplish those plans. These notions come from the deep-seated idea that I might be considered unsuccessful or living a lackluster life if I did not do all these things. You try to accomplish everything listed above. But life has its course and sometimes throws curve balls at you. You can call it ways of life or fate or believe in a higher power than us. After living on this planet for almost four decades, I have learned that getting everything you want or plan in life is impossible. A line by famous poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan states in Hindi, "Man ka ho to achcha. Man ka na ho to zyada acchha !" The above line translates into if thin...
